I’ve been using WordPress for over 11 years and I wanted to try something new. This blog is now running on HTMLy, which is a flat file CMS & has no database associated with it.

I initially started out with Blogger back in 2009 while living in Argentina. When I first started blogging I had no idea that it would become a huge part of my life. I quickly realized that I wanted to have more control over my content and after some time I taught myself HTML, CSS & PHP and was able to work with, and design WordPress websites. I've even created beautiful, unique & award winning websites using WordPress!

While WordPress has some really awesome features and is highly extendable, it's also a major security target for script kiddies and other malicious actors. I wanted to use something different something unlike I had ever tried before. Something that gave me the ability to easily backup as needed, but not have to worry about outdated or undeveloped plugins causing security holes in a website.

However, I've learned a lot over the years. Each WordPress website I develop these days, especially for clients, uses high quality plugins that are updated frequently or they are scripts that I develop & maintain, not to mention host (some even behind a WAF) & backup.

But for my own personal use, I wanted something super simple. So here it is.... to a new era of my personal blog!
